The booties by Kings & Rebels are lined with cosy fleece inside; outside, vegan faux leather is used – or, for the summer models, pure cotton. Both are soft enough for baby feet and robust enough for everyday life.
Family business with its own production
Production takes place in the brand's own family business in Colombia – every pair is made by hand. Because the brand controls the entire process itself, working conditions and quality can be steered directly instead of through intermediaries.
Snap button and heel band: the real trick
Every model has a snap closure – so the shoe can be opened and laid around the foot instead of being pulled over the heel. In addition there is an elastic band that runs around the heel and sits above the ankle. That is exactly why these booties do not keep ending up loose in the pram.
Classic or Gripper: which model when?
As long as your child is not yet walking, the Classic booties for 0 to 12 months are enough. As soon as the first steps come, the Gripper models for 12 to 24 months are worthwhile: nubs on the sole provide grip on parquet and laminate.
Sizes from 0 to 24 months
The sizes are additionally given in centimetres, which makes measuring easy. The Classic models come as Newborn (9 cm), 3 months (10 cm) and 6 months (11.5 cm), the Gripper models as 12 months (13 cm), 18 months (14 cm) and 24 months (15 cm). If in doubt, measure your child's sole – that is more reliable than age indications. Booties are, by the way, among the things that are rarely missing from a first baby kit.
And after that?
Booties cover the time from newborn to the first confident steps. Once your child is out and about indoors and outdoors and the foot needs more structure, proper leather shoes follow – such as those by Petit Nord. Until then, booties are the simpler choice because they barely restrict the foot.
Frequently asked questions
Which size should I order?
Measure your child's sole from the heel to the longest toe and compare the value with the centimetre indication of the size. A little room at the front is right, too much is not – the foot then slips inside the shoe.
Do the booties stay on when my baby kicks?
Yes, that is the actual purpose of the elastic heel band. It sits above the ankle and keeps the shoe on the foot, while the snap button makes putting it on easy.
From when do we need the gripper sole?
As soon as your child pulls up and takes the first steps. Before that the non-slip sole brings nothing; from then on it makes a noticeable difference on parquet and laminate.
Gamuza or Cotton – what is the difference?
Gamuza refers to the models in vegan faux leather with fleece lining, that is the warmer version for autumn and winter. The Cotton models are made of cotton inside and out and are lighter – intended for spring and summer.
