SUSTAINABILITY
Daily life as a mother can sometimes appear quite hectic and filled with tasks that allow no pause. One is responsible for so many things – from the well-being of the children to their emotional needs as well as the demands for entertainment and play. There is also the household, which, even with support, often looms large. Whether it be social occasions, birthdays, weddings, or simply visits from friends and family – the list seems to go on endlessly.
Over time, this pressure can be incredibly draining. That is why it is truly important to have a good support system. Whether it is someone who takes care of the children for a day or provides the opportunity to enjoy a break for a relaxing bath with a good book – all these can significantly contribute to lightening the mental burden.
Our Mother Nature has been taking care of us for ages, and we are increasingly dependent on supporting her in this support system. For me, this means treating her resources with care and paying attention to her needs so that I can actively contribute to her relief.
It is particularly dear to us that our world remains livable for the generations to come. Let us therefore seek more sustainable alternatives together that can provide a positive foundation for our children and many future generations.
Regarding our previous contributions to Mother Nature's support system:
Products
In selecting our suppliers, we place great emphasis on fairness and sustainability efforts. For instance, we source clothing from productions in Switzerland, Portugal, and Ukraine. These shorter supply chains help us reduce CO2 emissions while simultaneously supporting good working conditions.
However, we also include products from China in our assortment, as there the expertise for certain items is simply the best. It is important to us that we ensure the production and shipping are as sustainable as possible. Even though we know we live in an imperfect world, we still strive for a balanced approach.
Shipping
Shipping Bags
Everything that cannot be damaged during shipping is sent in compostable shipping bags made from corn starch. In an optimal composting environment, these break down in about 45 days. The only thing that is not compostable is the adhesive strips, so please remove them before placing the shipping bag in the compost.
Our shipping bags are certified for industrial composting (EN/DIN 13432, AS 4736, US ASTM D6400) as well as for home composting (AS 5810).
Kraft Paper
We pack your ordered products in kraft paper. We love both the look of this paper, which also absorbs shocks well, and the fact that it is made from recycled fibers. And quite honestly: A package that looks like a gift under the Scandinavian Christmas tree is simply the icing on the cake!
Plastic
Any plastic from other manufacturers that is not necessary for hygienic reasons – such as with pacifiers – we remove, sort it separately, and dispose of it properly. This way, you do not have to worry about it and can hold the products directly in your hands.
