Collection: LONG TROUSERS

Children's trousers + baby trousers: long trousers + leggings

Children wear long trousers almost every day, so the range here is wide: leggings, knitted and jersey trousers, corduroy and twill trousers, jeans and joggers for babies and children. Most styles come from Engel, Búho, Organic Zoo, Cozmo, snug and Leevje, with further pieces from FRICKZACK, nixnut, romi., LIEWOOD and Claude + Co.

Which material for which season?

For the cold months, the children's leggings in merino wool + silk from Engel are a good choice, for example in Sand, Dustyrose or Schwarz. They add warmth as a base layer under corduroy trousers or a dress without adding bulk. Thicker still are the Wollfleece baby trousers with a high waistband, which keep your baby warm in the pram too. Our guide merino wool or cotton explains which fibre suits your child better. For active days, stretchy jersey and knitted trousers such as the Knit Pants Stripe or the Irregular rib knit Leggings work well. Corduroy trousers like Aura and Salem or the Saul twill trousers are more hard-wearing.

Cuts for babies and older children

Baby trousers usually have a wide waistband that sits over the tummy without pressing, like the baby leggings or the fine-rib baby trousers. Children who dress themselves manage best with pull-on trousers with an elastic waist, such as the children's joggers or the velvet pull-on trousers. Jeans like the Borris printed jeans and twill or drill trousers are made of firmer fabric and better suited to children who are already walking. Use our size chart by age to find the right size. For mums, there are also the women's lounge trousers in the same merino wool + silk.

When it gets warmer, switch to shorts. If you are looking for trousers without a slipping waistband, have a look at the dungarees.

Frequently asked questions

How many long trousers does a child need? Five to seven pairs are usually enough for everyday wear. In winter, add one or two warm pairs of leggings as a base layer.

How do I wash merino wool + silk trousers? Preferably on the wool cycle at a low temperature with wool detergent, then dry flat. Always follow the care label.

Should I buy one size up? That works well for trousers with cuffed or turn-up legs, as the legs can simply be rolled up.
