Under the name «Die Kinderbücherwerkstatt» she writes and draws her picture books herself – every book is thus created in one pair of hands, from the first idea to the last illustration. What language are the books in?
All titles are in German only – including the book titles themselves. There are no translations, because Maja Weber publishes the books herself.
Which book suits which age?
«Einfach Wunderbär» is intended from around 3 years and works with little text. «Emilio und sein Licht» and «Eluris und der Kristall» are aimed at children from 6 years – «Eluris» is the longest of the three at 48 pages.
Reading aloud or reading alone?
Both. The titles from 6 years work as a read-aloud book for younger children just as well as a first solo read for first-graders. With «Emilio» the large A4 format helps, because the illustrations get plenty of room.
Why books from the region?
Because text and image come from the same person, which is rare with picture books – usually author and illustrator work separately. And because Tegerfelden is a good twenty minutes from our shop in Klingnau – how we came to have that shop is told in our story.
