Buying children's shoes: getting fit + size right

Children's feet grow quickly and rarely speak up when a shoe pinches. It's best to measure feet in the afternoon, when they're a little bigger, and allow around 12 millimetres of space in front of the toes. For toddlers, a quick check every two to three months is worthwhile to see whether the shoes still fit.

The right shoe for every situation

For first steps, soft first-walker shoes with a flexible, thin sole are ideal, so feet can feel the ground. In summer, sandals provide air, in winter lined boots keep feet warm and dry, and for nursery and home, comfortable slippers are ideal.

Our brands such as Petit Nord and LIEWOOD rely on natural materials like leather and suede, flexible soles and well-thought-out fits that leave healthy foot development enough room.

At Littlies + mums, you'll find baby and children's shoes online and in our shops in Klingnau and Frick, where you can check the fit directly on site.
