In winter, merino wool hats keep little heads reliably warm without overheating, because wool naturally balances temperature. For the transitional seasons, lighter beanies made from cotton or ribbed knit are ideal. With babies, it's worth checking the fit: the hat should cover the ears well and neither pinch nor slip – styles with ties stay in place even on little explorers.
