snug: baby clothing from Portugal, from size 0 to 1 month
Teilen
snug comes from Portugal and makes baby clothing that starts where other brands stop: at size 0 to 1 month. Anyone who has ever stood in front of a wardrobe full of pieces hanging over a newborn's hands knows why that counts.
Sizes in monthly steps
The sizes run in fine steps: 0–1, 1–3, 3–6, 6–9, 9–12 and 12–18 months, with individual pieces continuing up to 3–4 years. That is more closely graded than with most brands – and in the first six months, when everything changes weekly, exactly right. The longsleeve with chest pocket in beige in organic cotton jersey is one of those basics you reach for most often. Which size suits which age is shown in our size chart.
Pieces that belong together
snug thinks in series rather than single items. The pull-on trousers in cotton fleece belong to the same range as the romper and the hooded jacket and combine with both. The elastic waistband does not cut in, the fleece warms without weighing down. Buy one piece and you can add to the series instead of starting from scratch.
The knitted hat for winter
The knitted hat with pompom is made of viscose, polyester, wool and a share of cashmere. The knit is elastic and sits without pressing – and the pompom has an underrated side effect: you find the hat in the pram faster. It comes from 1–3 months to 3–4 years.
Summer pieces that stay
There are basics for warm days too, such as the shorts in ribbed organic cotton jersey with an elastic waistband. Ribbed jersey stretches along and does not curl at the hems – which is why such pieces often fit for longer than the size suggests.
Material and origin
The work is done with organic cotton, on several pieces with recycled organic cotton. Production takes place in Portugal – short distances within Europe and a textile tradition you can see in the seams. What lies behind labels such as GOTS is explained in the guide GOTS and organic cotton.
Frequently asked questions
From which size is snug available?
From 0 to 1 month – so from birth and for very small newborns. Then follow 1–3, 3–6, 6–9, 9–12 and 12–18 months. This fine grading is the main difference from brands that begin at «0–3 months».
What does it mean that the pieces belong to a series?
Romper, hooded jacket and pull-on trousers of one range are made from the same fabric and kept in the same colour. So you can start with one piece and add later without it looking thrown together – practical for gifts when several people want to contribute.
How are the pieces washed?
Jersey and fleece on a gentle cycle at 30 °C, do not bleach, do not tumble dry, iron up to 110 °C. The knitted hat, by contrast, belongs in a hand wash – with wool and cashmere in it, the machine is unforgiving.
Where is production based?
In Portugal. That applies to the knitwear as well as the jersey basics and means short transport distances within Europe.
You will find the whole range in the snug collection – matching it, the newborn selection, tops and trousers. How to layer correctly in winter is in the guide layering principle.
