Van Leds makes vegan soaps by hand in small quantities – in Switzerland. The short distances are one point; the other is that small batches make it easier to control exactly what goes in.
Why solid soap?
A bar of soap does without a plastic bottle and lasts a long time when used sparingly. So that it does not go soft, it should be able to dry between uses – the bamboo soap dish at 8.5 × 11.5 cm noticeably extends its life.
The varieties
The choice includes calendula (marigold), curcuma, avena (oat) and miel y coco (honey and coconut). Marigold and oat are classic ingredients for soaps that feel pleasant on sensitive skin.
Fragrance-free for sensitive skin
Several varieties come fragrance-free. That is no detail: fragrances are among the most common triggers of skin irritation – anyone prone to sensitive skin, or looking for soap for children, is usually better served by a fragrance-free version. A soap bag for the remnants
The soap bag in 100% sisal fibres measures 9 × 14 cm and solves two problems at once: it provides ventilation so the soap dries in between, and it makes even the last small pieces usable that would otherwise end up down the drain. For travelling it is more practical than a dish anyway. Both are handmade in Spain.

Frequently asked questions
How does a bar of soap last longer?
By drying between uses. Left in a puddle, it softens and is gone in days rather than weeks. A dish with drainage, or a bag that hangs on a hook, is therefore not decoration but the difference between two weeks and two months.
Why fragrance-free soap?
Fragrances are among the most common triggers of skin irritation and contact allergies. For children and sensitive skin the fragrance-free version is therefore the safe choice – leaving it out has no effect on the cleaning power.
Is the soap suitable for babies too?
For the first months the rule is: as little as possible. Clear water is usually enough, and if a product is used it should be explicitly declared for babies. Solid soap is more a thing for washing hands and for older children.
What does the soap bag actually do?
Three things: it keeps the soap ventilated, it lathers by itself when rubbed, and you can stuff small remnants into it instead of throwing them away. When travelling it replaces the soap tin.
