What exactly is Smart Spin?
The connecting surfaces of the tiles rotate: the magnets turn through 360° instead of sitting in a fixed polarity. Parts therefore snap together in any orientation – which is what makes sloped surfaces, moving axles and closed rings possible in the first place.
Is the PRO set suitable as a starter?
Rather not. For first contact with magnetic tiles a Creative Pack is the better choice, because it contains more basic shapes. The PRO set shows its strengths once building is already done with a plan.
Does it fit the classic Connetix sets?
Yes, all Connetix sets are compatible with each other. The PRO set can therefore be added as an extension to existing tiles – the posts and planks in particular make existing structures more interesting.
Is this still a toy or already a technical construction kit?
Both. The pieces work like ordinary magnetic tiles but invite mechanics, statics and geometry. That is why the set stays interesting for older children and adults who have long outgrown simple tiles.
